Overview

O’Rourke Family Estate (OFE) is a 300-acre property with panoramic views of surrounding orchards, vineyards, rolling mountains, and the glistening water of Okanagan Lake. Inspired by Europe’s most famous wineries, the property features 110 acres of vines, 300 meters of winding tunnels, and 12,000 square feet of cave space to store and age wines.  In addition to OFE, the O’Rourke portfolio includes Peak Cellars. Located on a 7-acre property in Lake Country, and is home to our Goldie Road Vineyard. Wine isn’t the only thing the property produces; the half-acre organic vegetable garden and two greenhouses supply the highest quality fruits and vegetables for the Garden Bistro.

 

Role type:  Contract, full-time (minimum 30 hours/week with opportunity to move towards permanent contract)

Location: Lake Country, BC

Reports To: Restaurant Manager and/or Maitre D’

 

Role Scope: The Support Staff position at Row 188 plays a vital role in ensuring smooth operations, exceptional guest experience, and seamless support to the front and back-of-house teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Guest Services:

  • Greet guests and enthusiastically represent our brand, providing service that goes above and beyond the expectations of our guests.
  • Perform coat check duties, including tagging and storing guests' belongings securely.
  • Assist with valet services as required, ensuring smooth and efficient vehicle handoffs.

Dining Room Support:

  • Execute the service standards as set out by O’Rourke Family Estate
  • Set up and maintain a clean, organized dining area, including resetting tables as needed.
  • Run food to tables, ensuring dishes are delivered to the correct guest, key components are communicated to the guest and any allergy or dietary restrictions are mentioned when presenting the dish.
  • Ensure washrooms are clean and that adequate supplies are stocked throughout every shift.
  • Polish cutlery and glassware as needed.
  • All open and closing duties as assigned.
  • Ensure that levels of all needed supplies are stocked adequately. This includes: pizza and to-go boxes, napkins, cutlery, glassware, etc.
  • Continually seek information about organizational menus, wine industry trends, winemaking practices, wine club memberships, and events across the entire organization.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures outlined in the Health and Safety Program.
  • Learn the daily menu, be able to describe every element to the guests.
  • Maintain a professional and clean personal appearance including arrival with all uniform requirements.

 

Team Collaboration:

  • Communicate effectively with bartenders, servers, managers, and other support staff to anticipate and respond to guest and operational needs.
  • Offer support wherever needed, maintaining a proactive and positive attitude.
  • Alert the assigned server if a guest has made a request.
  • Report any unsatisfied guest to a Manager or Supervisor.

  • Experienced in providing excellent customer service, ideally in a restaurant, winery or retail environment.
  • Dedicated to providing personalized and professional service to all guests, and to showcasing the local region and estate offerings.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities and the ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to operate in a high-pressure environment and remain calm and focused in urgent situations.
  • Able to pay strong attention to detail.
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, aligning with dress code
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of the menu and ability to articulate dish details, including key ingredients and potential allergens when applicable.

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Able to withstand extended periods of standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as overtime from time to time.
